Their small white blossoms hang like delicate bells among broad green leaves, almost hidden until the light catches them, filling the surrounding air with a fragrance that is fresh, green and unmistakably floral.

The elves have known these flowers longer than anyone remembers. Old songs tell that the first Moonbells appeared where moonlight lingered upon the forest floor until dawn, and even now the flowers carry an unusual rhythm of their own. Their blossoms lift toward the moon during the night before bowing again with the coming morning, leaving their fragrance behind among the ferns and shaded woodland paths.

Moonbell Lily can be enjoyed entirely on its own, but it also appears in A Summer Morning in the Elderlands, an Emberlore incense story following an elven woman through one sunlit morning in her ancient homeland.

Beyond the familiar woodland paths, she discovers a hidden clearing filled with wild Moonbells. Among the elves, the flowers are not picked simply because they are beautiful; an untouched field of Moonbells may have been blooming in the same secluded place for generations, belonging as much to the forest as the trees surrounding them.

She stays among them for a while instead.
